When to book your Indian wedding photographer (and why 18 months isn't dramatic)

The best photographers are the first vendors booked at every serious South Asian wedding — before the venue in many cases. Here's why, and the exact windows to work in.

Best Time to Book an Indian Wedding Photographer

Why photographers are booked first

Venues can host multiple weddings a day. A photographer can shoot exactly one. The scarcity is real and dictates the entire chain.

The month-by-month booking clock

18 months out: shortlist and interview. 15 months: sign the top choice. 12 months: lock second shooter and film team. 9 months: brief on ceremony sequence. 6 months: pre-wedding shoot. 60 days: final call sheet.

What breaks if you book late

You lose the named lead and end up with an assistant. Second shooter is a stranger to your primary. Film team is a subcontracted third party. Communication becomes a game of telephone.

Frequently asked

Can I book only 3 months out?

For off-season yes. For peak season Nov–Feb in India or summer in UK/Canada, you'll be choosing from what's left, not from the best.
